Which is the closest hotel to stay for a dinner event at your restaurant??
Service was good but the food was not. I ordered a dry aged steak and it was not good, poor quality and overcooked.
MoreThe food was amazing; some of the best shrimp I’ve ever had! Everything was nicely seasoned! The waiter was awesome, professional, and polite! He went out of his way to make sure we were happy. The owner came out to greet us and was very friendly. They even gave us a complementary ride back to our hotel! I would highly recommend this restaurant and I can’t wait to go back!
MoreTraveled the world, eaten at some of the top spots in the US - this is by far the best traditional steak house there is.If you want the best steak and are in Chicago, make it a point to eat here.
MorePricey but worth it. They have a good happy hour. Timeless and classic. Amazing staff.
MoreFirst time I tried dry aged steak. Delicious. You need to try it. All round excellent restaurant.
MoreI’m super picky when it comes to steaks, but this one stands out! Will easily recommend this place to friends!!!
MoreSeriously, the best food I have ever eaten. My boyfriend and I ate here for Thanksgiving, the staff made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant. I have never had an experience like this anywhere else. They even gave us a free ride back to our hotel in a black tinted suv. The top experience I have ever had, do not skip visiting this place while in Chicago, it's worth every penny.
MoreHad an excellent time for our anniversary dinner! Jodi W. was an incredible server! Appetizers were amazing! The lobster escargot was perfect! The bone in dry aged ribeye were done to perfection. (Medium rare as it should be). Will definitely be coming back again! Merry Christmas!
MoreCelebrated my bd here, one of the best steak I've ever tried! Service always with a smile, quick and proffessional. Owner approached me, and gave me old gun from wall so I can take photo! Very entertaining and exciting night! Worth every$!
MoreOverall rd food. I requested medium well, more towards well, but had to send my meat back since it was very red. The manager was very personable and accomodating.
MoreHad a great experience tonight! The food was amazing and the wait staff was super attentive! Had the best Christmas dinner ever!
MoreMake reservations, dress is informal. Come to spend money. If you go all out to have a nice meal, the wine selection is top notch. But pricey. At first, we were told we had window seating but then they changed it, disappointing. The tomahawk ribeye, aged and rubbed, was underwhelming. Not the best I've had, I expected a thicker cut ribeye. Our server provided excellent advice on wine, we took a bottle home with us. But we had one other server that I felt was trying too hard to sell us wine, seemed a bit too suggestive. Would definitely come back and try again. Great dark wood and ambiance.
MoreGreat food served by exceptional staff! Everything that was recommended was delicious. The live piano music and decor was perfect for a romantic dinner.
MoreDefinition of fine dining and service. Amazing steak! But what wowed me was the service. A must if you are a steak fanatic!
MoreQuality food, good service. Casual atmosphere, I ordered the tomahawk steak & it was delicious.
MoreMy wife and I had an excellent experience! Our server, Todd, helped us to understand the options and select two very good meals. We also found the perfect wine for the steaks, a St. Francis Merlot 2008. Overall excellent meal and experience... we will definitely be back!
MoreI really enjoyed this doot. Tomahawk steak was melt in the mouth goodness. The mac and cheese was good too. Worth the money.
MoreHad NYE dinner here. Nice drink special with the Moet. Hard to find a reasonably priced bottle of decent wine. So went with the Manhattan and it was excellent. Had the dinner special of filet and lobster tails. It was supposed to be 2 tails but it looked like 1 1/2 tails from 1/2 lbs lobsters. As a New Englander I should have known better than order lobster in Chicago. Steak was cooked perfect - black and blue - which many places get wrong. Service was good but felt a but pushy. Kind of used car salesman type of behavior. Atmosphere isn't romantic but is casual and relaxing. I've spent more at steak houses and gotten equally good food and spent less and gotten equally good food.
More[Dined here Dec. 24th, 2019]The Chicago Chop House is Chicagoland's tier one steakhouse. My family and I had an incredible Christmas Eve dinner here, and I cannot decide which I enjoyed more: the food or the ambiance. While the meat products are clearly of a high caliber (I strongly recommend either the Tomahawk Ribeye or the Petite NY Strip), it was the side dishes that really sealed the deal for me.Be certain to try the truffle mac and cheese, steamed spinach, or any of the seafood options should you visit the Chop House!
MoreAmazing Diner! Birthday Diner! Had the Japanese Beef and it was good!
I went here last night with a group of friends. We ordered 4 of the largest steaks they had. Overall they were really good, especially the porterhouse. The tomahawk ribeye for the price was not worth it in our opinion. This place has a unique decor but is a bit small and noisy. The wine list is egregiously priced. It is barely approachable and affordable wines are limited. I have lived in Chicago for the last 12 years and this was my first time here. I’d recommend other steak locations before the Chicago chophouse though. But if your in that specific area it’s worth a stop in to check it out.
MoreMonique and the staff are excellent. Remembered our last trip almost to the date. Missed by 24 hours! WOW!!!!!
MoreAwesome steaks!! We went to the chicago chop house for my husbands birthday and we really enjoyed our dinner. Our host Noza was very knowledgable and friendly. For sides we had scallops and calamari. Yum!! Definitely worth the money!
MoreGood steak house, great customer service, unique atmosphere, and location make this an iconic spot. Food was pricy but was to be expected. Overall great steak house but not the best personally.
MoreWent to dinner with a big group. Three of us got gin martinis. After the first round we all said to one another that it tasted weird but ya know, everyone makes them different so we ordered the second round and asked for no vermouth and it came back and still tasted the same... we said we asked for no vermouth and the server was taken aback by the fact that we even questioned it... then the manager came back and told us that the bartender was using syrup in our martinis instead of olive juice..... for $15 a pop. Then she gave us like free shots of lemon drops........ and she took one with us. Would have rather have them taken off our bill. The food was also not the best. Way better steaks in Chicago to try
MoreGood date night restaurant, excellent steaks, attentive waitstaff, more intimate old school style place.
MoreThe time we spent here is from March 7th 2020. One of our last dates before the mandatory quarantine. I always wanted to come here and it DID DISAPPOINT!! It started with our server ....she came and introduced herself and that WAS IT !! 17 minutes later and no water ....no bread ...no nothing !!!Another waiter had to get us water and bread . We could tell that our server was having a bad day....BUT THATS NOT OUR PROBLEM, we all have bad days at work but find a way to power through it . The service was poor though out our visit .My food and drinks were good !! Food = 8 (10 highest) Drinks = 8 Service = 3 (2 from our server and 8 from the other server and busser ) As we was leaving my wife expressed our experience with the manager and she told us to come back and promised that the experience would be different....she was nice but I forgot her name .
MoreService great but the NY Strip steak was hard, you really have to work at chewing. Two small pieces was all I could take. I gave the rest to my dog the next day. The fries were hard, very hard, asparagas was good, creamed spinach had no flavor with mozzarella cheese on top. Coffee good. Lollipop Lamb was excellent. Lobster bisque was bland, salt helped a bit but no... the taste wasn't there. Goat cheese with bacon too sweet for me but others seem to enjoy it. I hope your experience is better than mine. My fellow dinners were top notch.
MoreExcellent food and atmosphere. The food portions are over the top!
We had an excellent experience at the Chop House a couple of weeks ago when we were visiting CHI...we went in for happy hour martinis+snacks at the bar and stayed for dinnerThe food and service was great...we had the crab cake, oysters, sliced ahi tuna and a thick sliced hanging bacon dish(it wasn’t on the menu when we were there, just a special) and for mains we had a wet-aged bone in Kansas City and a dry aged bone in ribeye...both were excellent, I preferred the dry aged, but the wet aged was very good too ;)...+ a nice wine selection to chose from :)It was a great environment, met some nice locals through the night...We will definitely be back next time we visit CHI :)
MoreVery slow in the kitchen but food was great
My goto steakhouse whenever I visit Chicago. The setting is real old-school steakhouse. The service is fast and attentive and the steaks are awesome! Vallet parking is available.
MoreFrom walking in to leaving we were treated as honored guests. Dominic was mindful and the gentleman helping him was also a silent presence making sure our glasses stayed full and our dishes were cleared at just the right time. We were there for a special occasion and were treated well in that regard as well. Would highly recommend. We did make reservations in advance so were seated quickly and we were in a nice cozy location. :-) Oh!! BEST Asparagus I have EVER eaten!! No kidding. I ate 4 before I remembered to eat my steak!
MoreGreat food, great service. A bit pricey considering the lack the a la carte aspect of the entrees, but the food was magnificent!
MoreGuys, take notes! If ever in Chicago Rudely asked to leave while having our desserts... due to reservation ....big no no..
MoreMajorly overpriced. There are far better steaks out there for less money. The tables are so awkward that your feet don’t fit between the table and the booth. If you want a decent steak for lots of money, go here. If you want a great steak, go somewhere else.
MoreOverall, the food is pretty good but it's really expensive. I guess we were early but we were there on a Friday. We left after 6:39 and they still weren't busy. We ordered steak and had to order sides separately. As I said, the food was good, but there are a lot of places that serve good food--including steak--that would be better and cheaper. In my opinion it wasn't worth it.
MoreGreat eating experience. The crab cakes and shrimp cocktail were excellent. The crusty bread came out steaming hot and the dry aged Tomahawk steak was outstanding! Even better, the service from Megan was 5 star!
MoreGood food
Excellent place. Great food. Great service
Service was excellent. Patrick the new beverage manager was very passionate and helpful
MoreWe were here for a "date" weekend and this was recommended by a friend that is from Chicago. We reserved through opentable and I requested one of the tables by the window. When we got there, they had a table for us exactly where we requested. The food was nothing short of amazing as well as the service from Joe, our waiter. He was extremely knowledgeable and handled several tables effortlessly. As we were leaving, we were about to call an Uber back to the hotel and Earnest offered us a complimentary ride in the "Chop House Chariot" and engaged in some great conversation along the way. This place is now solid at the top of the "must go" list for when we visit Chicago again.
MoreGreat food. Had the scallop appetizer, very good. My husbands steak he said was one of the best he has had. The dessert was THE BEST. Really enjoyed the key lime pie. The service was wonderful, very attentive to my husbands gluten allergy and provided complimentary dessert for our birthdays. One star off as the ambiance could have been better, loud intoxicated gentleman at the bar and tables in very close proximity. The meal was fantastic otherwise.
MoreThis place was so good! Our waiter Tony was extremely polite n helpful, everyone was so attentive. The food was phenomenal, by far the best scallops I've ever had, the steak was heavenly. Definitely pricey but worth it. I loved coming here, we ordered the dry-aged ribeye, scallops, and truffle Mac n cheese
MoreCame here for my father's birthday, and I must say it is an experience. So much Chicago history in this building. Noza, our waitress, was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. One of the best steaks I've ever had, and we've hit almost all the major steakhouses in Chicago over the last 26 years. Nikola, the manager was also extremely pleasant and very interactive with all the guests. This place is worth every penny.
MoreGood steak house & quality cocktails. Typical menu for this kind of place. Food was cooked properly and tasty. The service was great! Attentive but not overbearing and very friendly!
MoreThis restaurant is my favorite restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this place. Whenever I I need a good lunchon, this restaurant comes straight to my mind. fresh and varied food and a rich cuisine.great staff members, and agreeable atmosphere. And very important, the price is fair. I sent my friends to this restaurant with pleasure.
